Vaute Couture Team: Summer Intern Caitlin

Caitlin is one of our summer interns, hailing from Rhode Island, but grew up in Maryland, studied fashion in Phila, then moved to Chicago for business school (at my alma matar- DePaul- whoot!) She has 2 bostons at home that she misses dearly (Dukey and Chucky- not named after that Chucky, c’mon people who would do that!?) She’s an astrology nut, checking into her possible bf’s stars match with her own and gets her daily horoscopes which oddly, don’t seem too accurate, but she reads them anyway! She is also adorable, fabulous at research, and offers this, “Living cruelty free is not as hard you think, just try it.” aw, so sweet. Meet Caitlin (as interviewed by Valentina, our other summer intern)! (my comments in parentheses as always.)
1. Do you like fashion, or like- LIKE fashion? Tell the truth.
I’m a lifelong style magazine enthusiast and always pictured my future having something to do with the industry. (I’ve got five subscriptions right now- normal?) My freshman year I majored in Fashion Merchandising in Philly but then realized a business focus at DePaul would better prepare me for a career. Now I’m hoping to combine my skills and creativity with my love of fashion and see where it takes me.
2. What’s a quintessential Caitlin thing to do in Chicago?
Shopping downtown – the feel of taking the escalator in Water Tower Place or walking down Michigan Ave. with handfuls of bags…heaven. And my favorite hobby? going to indie concerts, does that count? :) (um, sure Caitlin! Wait- you also volunteer for PAWS, right? I think that counts more. :))
3. And your favorite postcard stop?
Norway and Iceland are some of the most unusual places I’ve had the chance to visit. It seemed as if I was on a different planet, craters everywhere…maybe they should market themselves as out of this world, literally (ba doom, ch!) I did have one of the best mineral baths while I was there at this place called Blue Lagoon. (ahhh, sounds pretty good right about now.)
4. Any words to live by?
Mom taught me this: Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you choose to deal with it. Generally, I like to deal with things as they come, and that has worked well for me so far. (sounds like it!)
If you have any questions for Caitlin, feel free to leave them here.
